Softball Recap: Cape Fear Makes It 13 in a Row on the Road

Cape Fear has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Purnell Swett Rams. The win continues a trend for the Colts in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.

Karalina Tomasic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 13 hits.

On the hitting side, Cape Fear got a massive performance out of Amari Adams, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Brewington, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Cape Fear was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .488. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Cape Fear's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for Purnell Swett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
