Newark's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Geneva Panthers 9-8. The Reds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Devin Littlefield was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael McGavisk, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Newark's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Geneva, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.
