After flying high against the River View Raiders last Monday, the James Monroe Mavericks came back down to earth. James Monroe took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Summers County. James Monroe was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Summers County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played two weeks ago.

Cooper Ridgeway and Layton Dowdy certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Ridgeway dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Dowdy scored 14 points. Ridgeway continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cole, who scored six points.

James Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Summers County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Monroe is on the road again on Thursday and plays Greenbrier West at 7:30 p.m. on February 15th. Hopefully James Monroe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Summers County, they will head out on the road to take on River View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
