Baseball Preview: Grant County Braves vs. Dayton Greendevils

The Grant County Braves are taking a road trip to face off against the Dayton Greendevils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Grant County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Grant County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Western Hills, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Braves blew past the Wolverines 12-3 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Braves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Braiden Beach made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Beach was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Seth Tucker was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Braylon Rodriguez was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Dayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against Villa Madonna, falling 12-0.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Grant County, they moved to 6-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Dayton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Grant County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game.
