Lake Forest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Wright led the charge by rushing for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wright's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Demarion Russ was another key rusher, rushing for 89 yards and two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Forest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 387 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Another reason for the win was Lake Forest's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zavion Cooper, Richard Jones, and Keylund Bailey, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Milford's offense. They were outmatched by Red Lion Christian Academy and fell 35-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Buccaneers were not able to get on the board.
Milford's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Lake Forest has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 416.5 total yards per game. It's a different story for Milford, though, as they've been averaging only 238.7 total yards. Will Lake Forest be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Buccaneers flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Lake Forest against Milford when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
