Basketball Game Preview: Nottoway Cougars vs. Prince Edward County Eagles

The Nottoway Cougars will face off against the Prince Edward County Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Nottoway: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Prince Edward County has snatched up nine consecutive wins on the road.

Nottoway is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since January 12, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Lunenburg Central by a score of 46-44.

Despite the defeat, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: freshman Promise Tracy went 8 for 16 on her way to 21 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Mariana Eppes, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, everything went Prince Edward County's way against Buckingham on Tuesday as Prince Edward County made off with a 49-28 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Nottoway's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Prince Edward County, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.
