Softball Recap: Baker Snags 12th Win in Last 13 Games

It's playoff time, and Baker had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings on Saturday as they made off with a 14-2 win. Considering the Hornets have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Nola Havard, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kaylee Boddie was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Baker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Baker is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Mary G. Montgomery, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-16-1.

As of now, neither Baker nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
