Basketball Recap: Alexandria Mims Key Part of Team Effort in Fusion Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary's Academy, Regis Groff was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They managed a 41-37 win over the Montbello Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-17 back in January.

Regis Groff got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexandria Mims out in front who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. Mims is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. Brenda Bangala was another key player, putting up four points and nine boards.

Regis Groff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montbello only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Despite the defeat, Montbello saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juanita Dixon went 5-for-12 en route to 18 points and three steals.

Regis Groff's record is now 9-10. As for Montbello, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Regis Groff didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-14 win against Hinkley on the 14th. As for Montbello, they have also already played their next contest, a 63-13 defeat against George Washington on the 14th.
