            Football Recap: Redwood Rangers vs. El Diamante Miners        
        
		
        
        
            Redwood extended their winning streak  to six  on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-2. They blew past the El Diamante Miners 61-14. Considering the Rangers have won four contests by more than 20  points this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for  Jimmie Burk, who rushed for 344 yards and four  touchdowns while picking up 15.0 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game,  he is now up to 19  rushing touchdowns on the season. Another big playmaker for Redwood was  Jairus Brooks, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
 Redwood's run defense was locked in: El Diamante could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank  Enrique Segura for the heroic effort on defense: he. Redwood didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.
 Special teams was a major factor in the game for Redwood, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of  Brooks, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
As for El Diamante,  they are  on  a  12-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 713th, while Redwood is ranked 87th).
  Nolan (Gauge) Rivas and  Javier Gutierrez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss.  Rivas threw for 146 yards and one  TD, while  Gutierrez picked up 107 receiving yards and one  score.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Redwood is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Mt. Whitney  at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, El Diamante will  take on  rival Golden West  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
