Basketball Recap: Reed-Custer Comes Up Short

Reed-Custer was the 42-24 winner over Herscher when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Comets took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Comets have lost by exactly eight points.

When it comes to explaining why Reed-Custer lost, don't look at Alyssa Wollenzien. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 48.7% of the Comets' points, marking the fourth time in a row Wollenzien has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Atiana Hood, who had eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for Reed-Custer and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Herscher, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
