Basketball Recap: Fortune Early College Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fortune Early College walked away with it. They managed a 59-55 win over the Weed Cougars on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fortune Early College to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mekhi Tanner, who posted 17 points and five assists. Tanner's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Hollingsworth, who had 13 points.

Fortune Early College pushed their record up to 23-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points over those games. As for Weed, their defeat ended a 14-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 25-7.

We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. University Prep will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Fortune Early College surely won't give up without a fight. Weed does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
