Softball Game Preview: Piedmont Community Charter Patriots vs. North Hills Christian Eagles

The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots will challenge the North Hills Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

North Hills Christian will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Piedmont Community Charter extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday. The Patriots put the hurt on Ambassador Christian School with a sharp 12-1 victory.

Sophie Gibson made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chloe Rae Baker was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Julianna East was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.

Piedmont Community Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .520 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, North Hills Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Salem Baptist Christian last Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Vikings 25-8. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Piedmont Community Charter pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for North Hills Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything went Piedmont Community Charter's way against North Hills Christian in their previous meeting back in March, as Piedmont Community Charter made off with a 23-3 victory.
