Basketball Game Preview: Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees vs. Brownwood Lions

Stephenville and Brownwood are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees will host the Brownwood Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Stephenville took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They breezed by Llano to the tune of 59-32. The Yellow Jackets/Honeybees have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Brownwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Gatesville 97-56. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 841st, while the Hornets are ranked 417th).

Brownwood's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Stephenville, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.

Stephenville beat Brownwood 52-39 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Stephenville repeat their success, or does Brownwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
