Basketball Recap: Poca Find Success

Poca was handed a 36-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gilmer County Titans 59-56. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Dots considering their 28-point performance the matchup before.

Gilmer County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Remi Huffman, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 15 points along with seven assists and five boards. The Titans are 2-1 when Huffman posts 15 or more points, but 3-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyler Ratliff, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Poca's victory bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Gilmer County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Poca and Gilmer County will both be playing Tyler the next time they take the court. The Dots will host the Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Titans will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
