Jacurri Brown leads talented Vikings squad with new coach Jamey DuBose as they seek first title since 2007.
The
Lowndes (Valdosta, Ga.) high school football team enters the 2020 season as the state 7A runner-up with a returning 4-star junior quarterback and a new coach. The Vikings finished ranked No. 13 in the national Top 25 rankings after their 14-1 campaign.
And while
Jacurri Brown returns after a stellar season where he accounted for nearly 3,000 yards of offense and 31 touchdowns, the first-team Sophomore All-American has a new coach following the retirement of Randy McPherson.
New man in charge
Jamey DuBose replaces the legendary McPherson, who announced his retirement in December after an 18-year tenure that saw him go 181-46 with state titles in 2004, 2005 and 2007. DuBose, meanwhile, takes over the well-stocked program after turning Central-Phenix City (Ala.) into a state power. In six seasons, the Red Devils went 66-12 and won the school's first state crown since 1993 with a 14-0 championship run in 2018
Defensive help
And while Brown commands an offense that last season scored 546 points while churning out 6,432 yards offense, the Vikings return a host of big-time playmakers on the other side of the ball.

The Vikings also have marquee games lined up against rivals, Valdosta and Colquitt County (Moultrie), and one out-of-state matchup against Oakleaf (Orange Park, Fla.).
