Baseball Game Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Tri-Valley Bears

The Eldred Yellowjackets will take on the Tri-Valley Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eldred will be strutting in after a victory while Tri-Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

While Eldred's win against Livingston Manor wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Yellowjackets had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 6-5 on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Mason Tice was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Eldred's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Spannos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Tri-Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Ellenville. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Eldred's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Tri-Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Eldred beat Tri-Valley 8-3 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
