Softball Game Preview: Carson Colts vs. Venice Gondoliers

The Carson Colts are taking a road trip to take on the Venice Gondoliers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Venice took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Carson, who comes in off a win.

Carson's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Wiseburn- Da Vinci 12-0.

Isabella Campos tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Carson got a massive performance out of Letu'U Simi, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashannalee Titialii, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiseburn- Da Vinci only posted an OBP of .118.

Notre Dame (SO) hit Venice with a four-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gondoliers came up short against the Knights, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Gondoliers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Venice saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Ascencio, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Everything went Carson's way against Venice when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Carson made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
