Baseball Recap: Crawford Comes Up Short

Crawford had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-11 to make it four. They lost 6-0 to the High Tech SD Storm. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Colts haven't been shut out since back in March.

Crawford saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Altamirano Verdin, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

As for High Tech SD, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On High Tech SD's side, Neal Griswold made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Griswold has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nano Acevedo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Zach Fletcher was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

While Crawford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
