Basketball Game Preview: Sabine Cardinals vs. White Oak Roughnecks

The Sabine Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the White Oak Roughnecks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Sabine is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since November 19th on Tuesday. They came up short against Tatum, falling 78-53. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 628th, while the Eagles are ranked 69th).

Meanwhile, White Oak fought the good fight in their overtime contest against New Diana on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 44-42. The Roughnecks haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

White Oak's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Sabine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Sabine against White Oak when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 63-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sabine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
