Baseball Recap: Melbourne Gets the Win

Melbourne won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Monday too. The Melbourne Bulldogs came out on top against the Central Cobras by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Sean Gates looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned runs every time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Melbourne let Bryson Ayala and Nolan Keeley loose on the outfield. Ayala scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Keeley scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tony Burrows, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Melbourne's record now sits at 2-0-1. As for Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1-1.

Coming up, Melbourne will look to defend their home field on Friday against Merritt Island at 6:00 p.m. As for Central, they will square off against John Carroll Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
