Basketball Recap: Channel Ochoa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bourgade Catholic over Cicero Prep Academy

If Bourgade Catholic was riding high fresh off their 42-15 takedown of Tempe Prep on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Eagles took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions on Saturday.

Bourgade Catholic's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Channel Ochoa, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Ochoa is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 47% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nizhoni Rainbolt, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points.

Bourgade Catholic now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cicero Prep Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Bourgade Catholic and Cicero Prep Academy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Golden Eagles will face off against rival Gilbert Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cicero Prep Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Valley Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
