Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Tigers vs. Bartram Trail Bears

The Columbia Tigers will square off against the Bartram Trail Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Columbia challenged Bishop Snyder on Thursday. Columbia fell just short of Bishop Snyder by a score of 4-3.

Bynton Edge put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Edge was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Edge wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Shuler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Trayce McKenzie also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Bartram Trail won against Chiles last Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Bartram Trail came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Augustine, sneaking past 7-5. The win was just business as usual for the Bears, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Jonathan Bay was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Tippie, who scored a run and stole four bases.

Columbia now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Bartram Trail, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
