High school basketball spectacular City of Palms Classic releases 2019 field

Annually the premier holiday event in high school basketball, the Culligan City of Palms Classic announced its 2019 field this week.

The 47th annual event takes place Dec. 18-23 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers, Fla.

Here's a look at the participants across three separate events that comprise the City of Palms Classic:

The loaded 16-team main bracket showcases teams from 11 states as well as the District of Columbia. The field includes the two top-ranked teams (IMG Academy, Montverde Academy) from the Way-Too-Early 2019-20 Top 25 released in May.

Defending champion McEachern heads to the event for its third consecutive year with a tough road back to the final beginning with Philadelphia powerhouse Roman Catholic. The Indians return 2018-19 MaxPreps National Player of the Year and 2018 City of Palms MVP Sharife Cooper.

Top 10 prospects Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes of Montverde Academy, Jalen Johnson of IMG Academy, Paolo Banchero of O'Dea, Adrian Griffin Jr. of Archbishop Stepinac and Jalen Duren of Roman Catholic are among other headlining talents expected to participate.
