Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Lawrence County barely beat Brookhaven the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

JaKobe Haynes was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Maddox Whittington also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Lawrence County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Lawrence County's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Brookhaven, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
