Softball Recap: Evalynn Little and Mariah Bravo Secure Win for Fortuna

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Fortuna and Arcata had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Huskies never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Isabel Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fortuna let Mariah Bravo and Evalynn Little run wild. Bravo went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Little went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Little a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailee Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Fortuna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arcata only posted an OBP of .105.

Fortuna's record is now 17-3. As for Arcata, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fortuna beat the Tigers by a score of 17-7 later that day.
