Softball Recap: Fortuna Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Fortuna never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Arcata Tigers 17-0. Considering the Huskies have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabel Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Fortuna let Mariah Bravo and Evalynn Little run wild. Bravo went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Little went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Little a new career-high. Hailee Thompson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Fortuna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Fortuna has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Arcata, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Fortuna will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
