Football Recap: Bunker Hill Takes a Loss

After flying high against Draughn last Friday, Bunker Hill came back down to earth. The Bears lost to the St. Stephens Indians on the road by a 39-20 margin on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bears came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Indians are ranked 255th).

Eli Helms threw for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tae Gaither was his top target, picking up 63 receiving yards and two TDs.

Bunker Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for St. Stephens, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Bunker Hill will head out on the road to face off against Hickory at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for St. Stephens, they will welcome Hibriten at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
