Baseball Game Preview: Sandy Valley Cardinals vs. Ridgewood Generals

The Sandy Valley Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Ridgewood Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Sandy Valley barely beat East Canton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals blew past the Hornets 11-1 on Friday. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ridgewood not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024. They put the hurt on Coshocton with a sharp 8-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Generals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The win made it two in a row for Sandy Valley and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Ridgewood, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Sandy Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgewood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
