Recap: Johnson City Eagles vs. Junction Eagles
The Johnson City Eagles came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 46-39 win over Junction. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Johnson City was the better team in the second half.
Johnson City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Johnny Slawinski led the charge by scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Slawinski is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Fulton, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Johnson City's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points per game. As for Junction, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.
Johnson City will head out on the road to take on Goldthwaite at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goldthwaite is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Junction, they will be playing at home against San Saba at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
