Softball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Pennridge Rams

The Abington Galloping Ghosts will take on the Pennridge Rams at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Abington has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 25.

Last Monday, Abington didn't have quite enough to beat William Tennent and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Galloping Ghosts have lost by exactly two runs.

Abington saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Beal, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Z. Kelly also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Pennridge won against Faith Christian Academy on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Everything went the Rams' way against Lower Moreland as they made off with a 15-1 win. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Destiny Novashinski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Averi Dockery was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Meghan Holberg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Pennridge and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Abington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
