Baseball Recap: Boone County Takes a Loss

Boone County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Juggernauts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-4 on Saturday.

Boone County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Coughenour, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another was Cole Cookston, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Boone County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Lloyd Memorial, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-14.

Looking ahead, Boone County will head out on the road to face off against Newport at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.84 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. Lloyd Memorial has already played their next contest (against Mason County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
