Football Preview: St. Bernard's Crusaders vs. Biggs Wolverines

The St. Bernard's Crusaders will challenge the Biggs Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, St. Bernard's strolled past Willits with points to spare, taking the game 49-32. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Luke Brunton and his top target Tyler Hinrichs. Brunton threw for 238 yards and a touchdown while completing 79.2% of his passes while Hinrichs gained 77 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. St. Bernard's also got help from Michael Manzi, who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards.

St. Bernard's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Garrett Shanahan and Riley Nantz. Shanahan also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Meanwhile, Biggs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Redding Christian with a sharp 36-14 win on Friday.
