Softball Game Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Kimball Jaguars

The Davis Sr. Blue Devils will take on the Kimball Jaguars in a tournament on Saturday. Davis Sr. will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Davis Sr. is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They skirted past Patterson 10-9.

Layla Duarte was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lily Lingbloom was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Davis Sr. hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kimball never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Calaveras 10-0. Considering the Jaguars have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kimball has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Davis Sr., their record is now 7-8.
