Soccer Recap: Carlyle Comes Up Short

Carlyle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Carlyle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Teutopolis are ranked 124th).

Carlyle's goal came courtesy of Gavin Lamczyk, who's now up to six this season.

Carlyle now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Teutopolis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-1-2 record this season.

Carlyle will challenge East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Teutopolis, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Effingham on the 22nd.
