Whitewater is 0-4 against Sandy Creek since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will welcome the Patriots at 7:30 p.m.
Whitewater came into this matchup off a tough 25-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Spalding by a score of 22-19 on Friday.
Although Whitewater took the loss, they still got scores from David Duru and Kj Deriso.
Meanwhile, Sandy Creek put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fayette County 48-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won five matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Whitewater better keep an eye on Amari Latimer. He was instrumental in Sandy Creek's win, rushing for 107 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Latimer is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. Caleb Hill was another key player, throwing for 200 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes.
Sandy Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Corey Hadley Jr and Rod Smith Jr. Hadley Jr got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Whitewater now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Sandy Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Whitewater has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 281.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sandy Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 219.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Whitewater came up short against Sandy Creek in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 28-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hill, who threw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 39 yards. Now that the Wildcats know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
