Baseball Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 3-5 in the process. They came up short against the Triton Trojans, falling 17-3. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Pioneer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Guffey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Triton, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-3. That looming 17-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Triton's side, Drew Bingamon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Bingamon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddox Dennie, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Vaca, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

While Pioneer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
