Football Game Preview: Springlake-Earth Wolverines vs. Kress Kangaroos

Springlake-Earth is a perfect 5-0 against Kress since November of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Kangaroos at 7:00 p.m. Springlake-Earth knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Kress likes a good challenge.

Springlake-Earth hadn't beaten Happy on the road since September 10, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Wolverines took their game with ease, bagging a 58-22 win over the Cowboys. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won four contests by 25 points or more so far this season.

Froylan Agundiz produced another solid performance rushing for 200 yards and four scores while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 164 yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 105.7 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Bryan Longoria, who gained 81 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Springlake-Earth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Springlake-Earth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Agundiz. He also punched in four rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Springlake-Earth is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Kress was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Happy 62-14.

Springlake-Earth's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Kress, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Springlake-Earth against Kress when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 60-12 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Kangaroos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
