Cape Fear Academy takes loss despite strong efforts from Macy Stengle and Milly Kelley

Recap: Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes vs. John Paul II Catholic Saints
The Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a tough 70-45 loss at the hands of John Paul II Catholic. While losing is never fun, Cape Fear Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while John Paul II Catholic is ranked 41st).
Milly Kelley and Macy Stengle certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Kelley scored 21 points, while Stengle scored 18 points.
Cape Fear Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for John Paul II Catholic, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Fear Academy will face off against Coastal Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coastal Christian is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. John Paul II Catholic on the road again on Tuesday and play against Arendell Parrott Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
