Basketball Recap: Round Rock Westwood Takes a Loss

Round Rock Westwood was the 48-41 winner over Austin when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The match between the Round Rock Westwood Warriors and the Austin Maroons didn't end well, with the Round Rock Westwood Warriors falling 53-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Maroons are ranked 248th).

Austin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Foley Anderson, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Young, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and four steals.

Round Rock Westwood has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Austin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Round Rock Westwood will venture away from home to face off against Round Rock at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Austin, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-40 victory against Pflugerville on the 28th.
