Football Recap: Columbia's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Columbia had won four straight games and Jerome Horne did his part to make it five on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 27-20 victory over the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors thanks in part to Horne, who rushed for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

One reason for the win was Columbia's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Terry Henry and Kameron Mills, who racked up four sacks between them. Henry also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Although Trinity Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Zakhari Greene and Marquez Hicks.

Columbia's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Columbia will venture away from home to square off against St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
