Basketball Game Preview: Alcona Tigers vs. Heston Academy Patriots

The Alcona Tigers will take on the Heston Academy Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Alcona sitting on ten straight victories and Heston Academy on four.

Last Friday, Alcona earned a 58-46 win over Tawas Area. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Braves are ranked 634th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evan Borsvold continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Edju Hechlik, who made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points.

Meanwhile, Heston Academy didn't have too much trouble with Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy on Tuesday as they won 58-39.

Heston Academy is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Alcona, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Alcona was able to grind out a solid win over Heston Academy in their previous matchup back in January, winning 53-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alcona since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
