Softball Recap: Cary Academy Takes a Loss

If Cary Academy was riding high fresh off their 17-7 takedown of Thales Academy Rolesville on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers lost 18-8 to the North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-10 back in March.

Sarah Shaughnessy and Anika Kadumpalli did some serious damage despite the final result: Shaughnessy went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Kadumpalli went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Kadumpalli has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jennah Farris, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Cary Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cary Academy will venture away from home to take on Franklin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against GRACE Christian at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th.
