Recap: Hope Academy Trojan Tigers vs. South Lake Eagles
If the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers were feeling good off their 73-45 takedown of the Belleview Rattlers two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hope Academy fell 58-48 to South Lake on Thursday. Hope Academy has not had much luck with South Lake recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Hope Academy saw an underclassman step up: Dwayne Foreman III scored 20 points along with three steals. The matchup was Foreman III's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ja'vion Jenkins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
South Lake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David PINA, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. PINA continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Isaiah Pina was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Hope Academy's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for South Lake, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Hope Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Montverde Academy Regional at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. South Lake is on the road again on Friday and play against Foundation Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Foundation Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
