Baseball Recap: Louis E. Dieruff Has No Trouble Against Pocono Mountain West

Louis E. Dieruff had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-12 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Pocono Mountain West Panthers. The match marked the Huskies' most dominant win of the season.

Jean Varela was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Frawvely Peralta was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Julian Madison was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Pocono Mountain West, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly three runs.

On Pocono Mountain West's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Kliesh, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Louis E. Dieruff will challenge Emmaus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pocono Mountain West, they will host Pleasant Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
