The El Dorado Cougars will take on the Woodcreek Timberwolves in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as El Dorado comes in on three and Woodcreek on ten.
El Dorado picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over Highlands. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Logan Baker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. His afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ben Beasley was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points and five assists.
El Dorado smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Woodcreek on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-53 win over Del Oro. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Dorado better keep an eye on Will Dennie. He was instrumental in Woodcreek's win, putting up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Dennie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Kirby, Jr., who posted 13 points.
El Dorado's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Woodcreek, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. El Dorado hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66.4 points per game. However, it's not like Woodcreek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
El Dorado might still be hurting after the 61-36 defeat they got from Woodcreek in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Can El Dorado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
