Baseball Game Preview: Gloucester Catholic Rams vs. Clearview Pioneers

Gloucester Catholic is 9-1 against Clearview since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rams will head out to square off against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Gloucester Catholic will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Tuesday, Gloucester Catholic made easy work of Williamstown and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Brody Gates made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gates was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gloucester Catholic let Henry Pancoast and Jude Morgan run wild. Pancoast went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Morgan went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Morgan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Bogart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Gloucester Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Clearview came up short against Kingsway on Monday and fell 6-3. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gloucester Catholic's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clearview, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Gloucester Catholic took their victory against Clearview in their previous meeting on Saturday by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
