Softball Recap: Page's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Page can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 34-18 margin over the Western Guilford Hornets. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 10.8 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Ariel McAfee, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and six RBI. She also hit two triples, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Moriya Morgan, who scored four runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Page always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .915. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Page's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Western Guilford, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page will head out to challenge Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Page has given up an average of 19.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Western Guilford, they and Southeast Guilford will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Guilford will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Western Guilford surely won't give up without a fight.
