Baseball Recap: Midwest City Comes Up Short

Midwest City extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-17 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bishop Kelley Comets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bombers have suffered since April 13, 2024.

As for Bishop Kelley, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

For Bishop Kelley's part, Cal Conroy looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Conroy has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midwest City will venture away from home to face off against Bishop McGuinness at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bishop Kelley, they will head out to square off against Bixby at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Comets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
