Baseball Recap: Elkton's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Elkton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Harford Tech Cobras 7-6. The win was nothing new for the Golden Elks as they're now sitting on four straight.

Brandon Jay looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Jeremy Ruth was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taino Jurry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Elkton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Harford Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkton will welcome Rising Sun at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Golden Elks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harford Tech, they will take on Century at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
