Game recap: Lay unstoppable on ground as St. Patrick high school football team bests Burr Oak

St. Patrick (Portland, Mich.) upset Burr Oak (Mich.) 49-14 after a strong game from Collin Lay, who rushed for four touchdowns. Thanks to the stand out performance the senior now has 15 touchdowns on the season.

The Shamrocks were up 36-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Lay touchdown run in the first quarter.

St. Patrick expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. SP scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Kyle Schrauben.

With the win the Portland school extended its winning streak to eight games. The Shamrocks defeated the Indians 61-20 last week.

Lay was the top performer for St. Patrick. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.



Coming into the game SP had allowed 22.4 points per game this year.

The defeat comes as a step back for Burr Oak, which notched a 40-39 victory over Litchfield in its previous outing.

Burr Oak (3-5) goes up against St. Philip Catholic Central in a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game matchup next week, while St. Patrick (8-0) locks horns with Waldron also in a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game.
